Phil Hagen Jungschlaeger

Short Bio
Phil Hagen Jungschlaeger is a digital artist and creative technologist working at the intersection of media art, theatre and opera.
Since 2023 he has been researching immersive forms of theatre with a focus on AR/VR alongside Nils Corte at the XRT of Staatstheater Nürnberg, among others in the productions Symmetrie (2023) and Der Bau (2024); for Ich hasse Menschen (2025) at Theater Altenburg Gera he was nominated for the Faust Prize 2026 in the Media category together with Lena Rucker and Nils Corte. He also worked on the 150th-anniversary Ring 10010110 at Bayreuth (2026) with the team around Marcus Lobbes, and with Ariane Kareev he realised the new-media techno opera performances Immersion (2024) and Emersion (2025) at Deutsche Oper Berlin as well as Drill Baby Drill (2026) in Nuremberg.
Together with Roman Senkl and the transdisciplinary cyborg collective Minus.Eins, he explores streaming and web formats in a post-pandemic theatre context, for example in Hinter den Zimmern (2023) at Schauspiel Köln and in Das Haus (2024) and Solaris (2026) at Burgtheater Wien. As co-founder of the decentralised media art collective Latenter Raum he has shown work at festivals including Genius Loci, Blaue Nacht and the Chaos Communication Congress.
He studied Media Informatics at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and has since been developing artistic works in hybrid spaces between analogue and digital reality. At the centre of his practice is an experimental yet critically reflective approach to the technologies that shape and permeate our everyday lives, using recurring tools such as TouchDesigner, game engines (Unity / Unreal), virtual production, spatial audio, AR/VR and live AI.
