Stella Lennert

Short Bio

Stella Lennert works as a stage & costume designer for theater and opera as well as a video designer and scenographer for exhibitions and studios.

She studied stage design in the class of Johannes Schütz at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts and already assisted at the Berliner Ensemble during this time.
After graduating, Stella Lennert was engaged at the Bühnen der Stadt Köln.

Her engagements have taken her to numerous theaters, including Residenztheater Munich, Stadttheater Ingolstadt, Philharmonie Köln, Oper Leipzig and Schauspiel Frankfurt, Oper Köln, Schauspiel Köln, Theater Osnabrück, DNT Weimar and Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater. She works with directors Anna Weber and David Moser and the contemporary operetta collective Tutti d*amore.

As one half of Team LEN! she designs sets and video works for TV, stages and exhibition spaces with her sister Viviane Lennert; including the studio for the Teddyaward of the Berlinale, the set design of the Kultursymposium Weimar 2021 & the exhibition design for KONFETTI in the Dortmunder U. Together with soundartist Jakob Lorenz they work on virtual reality environments of scenography and sound.

In 2022/23 Stella Lennert was a fellow at the Academy for Theater and Digitality at Theater Dortmund and researched the possibilities of interactive scenography in virtual reality.

In 2023 she was awarded with the Hein-Heckroth Bühnenbild Förderpreis by Ulrich Rasche for her work as a stage designer.
